The Speedcat, up over the ankle
The Puma Speedcat Mid is the high version of the Speedcat, the slim racing sneaker with roots in motorsport. Where the regular Speedcat stays low and close to the ground, the Mid extends above the ankle, with a Velcro strap across the instep that completes the racer look. The suede upper, the Formstrip and the thin, flat sole remain; the silhouette only gains a collar and a strap. It’s the racetrack translated to the street.
Suede, Formstrip and a thin race sole
The construction comes straight from motorsport. The suede upper is supple and close to the foot, with the Formstrip running along the side and a ribbed detail at the heel. Underfoot lies an extremely thin, flat sole, designed for feel and grip on the pedals, here adapted for everyday wear. The high collar and the strap provide support around the ankle.
The Speedcat revival
The Speedcat is making a strong comeback as one of the most sought-after slim sneakers, and the Mid is the pronounced high variant.
