About Puma Desierto
The winter sneakerboot from Puma
The Puma Desierto is a high sneakerboot for the colder season: a shoe with the construction and the Formstrip of a Puma sneaker, but the shaft and protection of a boot. The upper is made of sturdy leather, with a high, padded collar, hook-shaped lace hooks at the top and a padded tongue. Underfoot sits a sneaker cupsole with a coarse, gum-colored tread for grip. It’s the familiar Puma look, pulled up above the ankle.
Leather, a high collar and a grippy sole
The construction mixes sneaker and boot. The leather upper protects against cold and wet, with the Formstrip on the side as a brand mark, and the high collar keeps the ankle warm. The hook fastening at the top gives support, and the tread under the cupsole provides grip on slippery, wet surfaces. The whole is warm and sturdy, but retains the comfort of a sneaker.
Made for cold and wet
The Desierto appeared in various winter versions, such as the PureTEX version with a water-repellent treatment and the Winter Rubber with a season-appropriate sole. The v2 is the further developed generation. All of them are aimed at wear in autumn and winter, when a regular low sneaker falls short.
In Puma’s sneakerboot corner
The Desierto belongs to Puma’s high, winter-suitable models, alongside sneakerboots like the Tarrenz and high models like the Rebound. Where the Rebound represents the basketball high-top, the Desierto is specifically tailored to the cold season, with leather and a padded collar.
What differs between versions
The high leather shaft, the Formstrip, the padded collar and the serrated cupsole remain the same across versions. What varies is the winter treatment (PureTEX, Winter Rubber) and the color, from black and beige to warmer tones. Place two versions side by side and the shoe is the same; the detailing changes.
