The Cassia is the women’s sneaker with which Puma places its version of the chunky sneaker in the affordable range. The model sits on a wavy, layered sole that is highest at the heel, with an upper of smooth synthetic leather that falls in large overlapping panels.
The cat logo is placed large across the side, like a stitched panel that reaches from the sole to above the instep. Next to it the brand name is printed in gold lettering, and that gold returns on the label above the tongue and at the back, where a fabric loop sticks up to pull the shoe on. Under the sole runs a wavy relief that carries the stacked build down to the ground.
Within the line there are several variants that mainly differ in finish. The SL is the smoother, entirely leather-look version; the Lux adds shiny details; the Distressed works with deliberately aged materials; and the Mix combines leather-look with textile. Recently there is also a 2.0, with tighter paneling.
