The seventeenth shoe of Kevin Durant

The Nike KD 17 is the seventeenth signature shoe of basketball player Kevin Durant at Nike. It is a performance-focused basketball shoe, built around the game of a long, agile scorer: low to the ground, light and quick. There is an Air Zoom unit in the forefoot for an explosive first step, combined with Nike Air cushioning for comfort throughout the game. The model was designed by Leo Chang, the regular designer of the KD line.

The cushioning is the core of the shoe. The Air Zoom unit in the forefoot provides a quick, responsive push-off, while Nike Air under the heel absorbs impact. Above that is a lightweight, breathable mesh-and-knit upper that wraps the foot snugly without adding weight. Everything is tuned for speed, agility and Durant’s long game.

Built for the agile scorer

Unlike a shoe for a heavy, physical player, the KD line targets mobility. The low cut leaves the ankle free, the wide base provides stability when cutting, and the cushioning stays low and quick. It’s a shoe for players who score from anywhere, from the gym to the game.

A long signature line

The KD 17 is the latest in a series that began with the KD 1 and runs through the KD 16 to here, all under the Nike KD banner. Each edition builds on the previous one, with adjustments to the cushioning, fit and upper. Recurring colorways like the pink Aunt Pearl, a tribute to Durant’s aunt, connect the line from generation to generation.

What differs by version

The low profile, the Air Zoom cushioning and the mesh upper remain the same across versions. What changes are the colorway and the theme name of the colorway, from Aunt Pearl to the Easy Money editions. Place two versions side by side and the shoe is the same; only the styling changes.
