About Golden Goose V-Star
The star on a skate sole
The Golden Goose V-Star bears the same large leather star on the side as the well-known Super-Star, but puts it on a different sole. Where the Super-Star has a flat cupsole, the V-Star sits on a vulcanized skate sole: a rubber rim that runs up around the shoe and forms a bumper over the toe, as you know from classic skate shoes. The star remains the trademark; the sole changes the character.
Leather or suede, always distressed
The upper comes in smooth leather and in suede, and both receive the brand’s characteristic lived-in finish: the surface is intentionally distressed, the sole edge looks used and the star is sometimes already a bit scuffed. That’s deliberate, not wear. The shoe looks as if it has been worn for years the moment you take it out of the box.
V-Star and V-Star 2
On the side it reads “GGDB / VSTAR2”, because the current version is the second generation of the model. The construction remains the same: the same star, the same vulcanized sole, the same distressed finish. There are LAB versions you can personalize and versions with a glitter star, but the base is always that skate shape with the star on it.
Where the V-Star stands among the stars
Golden Goose has a whole family of star models, and the sole is what distinguishes them. The Ball Star mimics the wide basketball shoe, the Super-Star the low cupsole version, and the V-Star the vulcanized skate shoe. If you want the star on the most casual, skate-like last, the V-Star is the one.
What differs by version
The star, the skate sole and the distressed finish remain the same across versions. What varies is the material, leather or suede, and the finish of the star, from plain to glitter to printed. Place two versions side by side and the shape is identical; the upper and the star determine the rest.
