JS stands for Jeremy Scott, the designer who for years allowed adidas to do everything a sports brand normally wouldn’t. Under this label fall the models from that collaboration — and they are rarely modest.
A sneaker as costume
Where most designers refine a silhouette, Scott built something on top of it. The best-known version had wings on both sides of the shoe, and that is characteristic of the whole line: the starting point is not function but spectacle. These shoes are meant to stand out in a room, not to disappear into an outfit.
Why a sports brand did this
For adidas the collaboration was a way to show the brand could operate outside the logic of sport. That produced models collected more as objects than as shoes, and which to this day are recognizable for their excess.

The JS designation also appears as part of article codes on models that have nothing to do with Jeremy Scott. So look at the full model name, not just those two letters. A monster that is sometimes only called that.
