About Ellesse

Italian sport since 1959. Ellesse was founded on 19 June 1959 in Perugia by Leonardo Servadio. The name comes from his initials L.S., pronounced in Italian as “elle-esse.” The brand grew in the 1970s with ski apparel and was soon also associated with tennis.

Logo on the outside. The distinctive logo depicts the shape of a tennis ball with the tips of a pair of skis — a nod to the two sports that made the brand. Ellesse was one of the first sports brands to place its logo prominently on the outside of apparel.

Sport and street. In the 1980s the British casual scene embraced the brand as premium sportswear. That dual role — athletic functionality with street style — stuck and carries through in the sneakers and sports shoes the brand makes today.
