Nigo and BAPE's sneakers
Nigo founded A Bathing Ape in 1993, the Japanese label that soon after also started making shoes. At BAPE we associate more than four hundred versions with his name, plus a range of models that fall under Reebok. The brand works with a small number of silhouettes and a large number of colorways. Below are those BAPE sneakers grouped together, with for each version the prices, sizes and availability from multiple online stores shown side by side.
What you’ll find here
The best-known silhouette is the Bapesta: a low leather basketball shoe with a thick sole and a star on the side. The model is almost always released in bright, high-contrast color combinations, often with patent leather or pattern prints. That use of color explains why so many variations exist side by side, since the shape itself hardly changes. So if you’re looking for a particular colorway, you search within a single model.
You’ll also find the Shark Sta, which places the brand’s well-known shark motif on the same base, and a series of Reebok collaborations in which existing Reebok models receive a BAPE version. That last group differs clearly from the Bapesta in fit and construction and is generally somewhat narrower.
