Undercover Sneakers
Undercover is the Japanese brand founded by designer Jun Takahashi in Tokyo in 1993, rooted in punk and with a reputation extending into high fashion.
About Undercover
Punk from Tokyo. Undercover was founded in 1993 by Jun Takahashi, who had previously sung in a Sex Pistols cover band and looked to Vivienne Westwood as an inspiration. That punk spirit remained the foundation of the brand, which he launched in the Ura-Harajuku district — partly through the Nowhere store, together with BAPE founder Nigo.
From Harajuku to Paris. With Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo as his mentor, Takahashi brought Undercover to Paris, where the brand made its fashion week debut in 2002. This helped a streetwear label grow into a name equally at home on the catwalk and on the street.
Strong collaborations. Undercover also became known for its collaborations, including the long-running Gyakusou line with Nike. These projects brought Takahashi's distinctive, often dark design language to the sneaker.
