Nike Air Max 90 “Volcano” (HF3248-001): black that looks ready to erupt

Nike Air Max 90 QS Volcano HF3248-001

Most Air Max 90s show you the air. This one shows you the lava. The Nike Air Max 90 QS Volcano (HF3248-001) takes the silhouette Tinker Hatfield drew in 1990 and pours it full of cooled magma: a black upper with a rough, crinkled surface that looks like it set only minutes ago, and orange cracks glowing straight through it. Not a quiet retro. A mountain that is still smoldering.

Look at where the orange sits. Not everywhere, that would be loud, but exactly on the spots that count. The Swoosh is magma orange with a black lava crackle running through it, as if the color is breaking clean through the material. The same pattern turns up again on the heel panel. And down low, inside the visible Air unit, there is a yellow glow trapped in the sole that gives the whole shoe its heat. Black leather, black midsole, black outsole, and then that one burning core. That is the trick, and it lands.

Black that is still smoldering

The Air Max 90 was never a quiet shoe. Hatfield gave it a bigger, visible Air unit than anything before it in 1990, you could suddenly look straight into the sole, and that was the whole point. The Volcano runs that play again thirty-five years later, but with texture instead of color blocks. The entire upper is built around the volcano theme, and for once the official name does the work for you: Black / Magma Orange / Laser Orange. You do not have to invent a story. The shoe tells it.

On the market since February 2025, and the charge never left. Our Hypescore puts it at 80, phase ATOMIC, the top register of the scale. This is not a brand-new release still proving what it is worth. This is a QS that charged up long ago and keeps running at full power, while most black-and-orange Air Max slip back into radio silence after a couple of months.

Ten listings, all in euros, and one trap to skip

Now the prices, because this is where it gets interesting. Right now Solezilla shows ten active listings for the Volcano, and every single one is priced in euros, from around €82 to just under €284, with the middle sitting near €190 euros. StockX lands around €137 euros, then a clean staircase climbs from there, and one resale listing dips to roughly €82 euros, well under retail. There are no GBP or USD listings at the moment, so if you are shopping from the UK or the US, treat those euro prices as your base and add shipping and import costs on top before you decide.

Either way, do not slam the first button you see. Walk the Air Max 90 page, line the shops up next to each other and check which sizes are still sitting where, before you commit. Let the Nike listings compete for you instead of the other way around. A shoe that looks ready to erupt does not need to drag your wallet into the crater with it. Grail or Bail? With the right price sitting next to it, I would charge this one without blinking.
