Nike put a rat on an Air Force 1. Not as a print, as a whole concept, and the result is exactly as random as it sounds. The Air Force 1 Low “NYC Rat” is dark, a little gross on purpose, and the kind of drop you either get instantly or not at all.
The upper is dark tumbled leather, clean AF1 shape like you know it. The weird part is all in the details. Brown faux fur sits over the Swoosh, the collar and the heel, like a rat crawled across the shoe. Underneath runs a translucent sole with a mauve-pink haze to it, basically a rat tail dragging along the bottom. Random, but thought through.
Statement or just messy?
Fur on a sneaker is risky. Here it works because everything else stays calm: dark leather, standard shape, no extra noise. That lets the fur read as a statement instead of clutter. Throw it under baggy jeans or cargos and your fit suddenly has something to say. Not a daily, but the one pair that pops next to all your white AF1s.
The “NYC Rat” is one half of a two-shoe New York pack and drops around 23 October, right before spooky season. The timing is not an accident.
Euros only, and not many yet
Because it hasn’t fully landed, Solezilla.com has just a couple of euro listings so far, nothing in pounds or dollars. 4 Elementos has a pair at 129.99 euros, which is around the retail mark, while Stadium Goods is already up at 242.95 euros on the resale side. With this few listings that gap is massive, so if you’re shopping from the UK or US, factor shipping and import before any of it starts looking good. Watch the shops fill in on the Air Force 1 Low page.
The Hypescore is still INERT, which makes sense with no market history on a shoe that hasn’t dropped yet. So this one’s on Grail or Bail for now. Fur rat on your AF1, hard yes or hard no? Drop it below, and scroll the rest of Nike while you decide.
