Nike Air Max 90 “Cream II / Cave Stone” (IX7437-236): the snakeskin you only catch on the second look

Nike Air Max 90 "Cream II / Cave Stone" IX7437-236

Most Air Max 90s are built to be seen. This one does the opposite, and that is exactly why it has been sitting on my list for a while. From across the room the “Cream II / Cave Stone” reads as a calm cream-and-taupe 90 and nothing more. Step closer and the overlays, the heel cage and the panel around the Air unit all turn out to carry a fine snakeskin print. Part of the Animal Pack, but the quiet member of the family.

The whole shoe stays in earth tones: cream mesh on the base, taupe suede on the mudguard and side panels, a cream midsole and a grey-brown Air unit. Nothing shouts. This is the kind of pair that slips under almost any outfit without you having to think about it, and in my place those are the ones that leave the box first.

Why the patient buyer wins this one

It falls in the WMNS run and has been out since 8 October. That combination works in your favour. Neutral colourways pull less attention at release than a loud collab, so they rarely sell straight through, and in women’s sizing the top and bottom of the range tend to linger longest. If you live at the small or the large end of the size curve, there is a decent chance your size is still there in a few weeks, maybe even under retail once shops start clearing room for the holiday drops. No need to rush this one.

The euro price, and the one UK listing

Retail is 149.99 euros. On our listings today the euro offers sit just above that: BSTN DE and Footshop both at 159.99 euros. There is also a UK listing, BSTN UK at 144.99 pounds, which is the only spot currently sitting under the euro retail figure. No US listing yet, so American buyers would be looking at a European order plus shipping and import for now. With only a handful of shops carrying it, this is a compare-before-you-click pair rather than a race, and you can lay the shops and sizes side by side on the Cream II page.

The Hypescore reads INERT on our meter, which is exactly what you want to see as a buyer: no resale heat, no urgency, no reason to overpay. For me the snakeskin is just enough to lift it over the hundredth grey 90 without ever tipping into too much. Taste splits on a print, though, so put the Air Max 90 offers next to each other, find the cheapest shop that still has your size, and tell us where you land on Grail or Bail. Plenty more quiet-but-good pairs over at Nike.
