There is a second set of laces in the box of the Air Jordan 3 “Fireside”, in pale pink. That one detail says a lot about how you can wear this shoe: Jordan Brand hands you the choice between quiet and just a little softer. And yes, the pink laces are exactly where my eye went first.
The “Fireside” is a women’s release, and it arrived on 3 October through SNKRS and selected Jordan retailers. It is live now, and the offers are already in.
Chocolate, not cognac
On the shoe almost everything is Velvet Brown: a deep, warm brown that leans towards pure chocolate rather than cognac or camel. The leather on the big panels is lightly tumbled with a soft sheen. Tongue and collar are suede, so they read a touch more matte. The elephant print on the toe and heel — normally the big contrast point on an AJ3 — is done here in the same brown, so you mostly notice it as texture. The laces fitted are cream (Pearl White), and under the dark-brown midsole runs a light brown gum sole. The result is an AJ3 that reads more like a leather good than a basketball shoe.
Brown on brown, or ecru against it
Tonal is where it is strongest. Think a camel wool coat, a chocolate-brown knit and wide trousers in oatmeal. The shoe becomes the darkest point of the outfit and holds everything together without anything shouting. Want contrast, and ecru denim is the easiest route: a straight or lightly wide jean with the hem just breaking on the shoe. The cream of the laces returns in the trousers, and the brown gets room to breathe. Black I would leave out — it flattens the warmth that makes this colour interesting in the first place.
And those pink laces? I would keep them for spring: light grey sweat fabric, a soft pink accent in a bag or scarf, and the brown AJ3 as the anchor. Two looks in one box, which is not something I say about most releases.
Priced like the retail release it is
Because this only just dropped, the offers still look like a normal retail launch rather than a resale market. On Solezilla.com we count fifteen active listings in euros today, and the real, wearable cluster sits right around €209 to €210: Nike itself, Foot Locker, Footshop, Size?, Foot District, Asphaltgold and Offspring are all there. Above that it is consignment — Stadium Goods near €323, House of Sneakers around €340 and Farfetch close to €395 — which for a shoe you can still buy at retail is not where you want to be. For UK and US buyers there is real stock too: a listing at JD Sports UK at £190, and one in the US at Rock City Kicks at $205, which lines up with the $205 retail price.
The Hypescore sits at 41, band CHARGING — the charge is building, not yet at full power, which is exactly the window where a pair is still at retail before the market wakes up. According to Sneaker News the “Fireside” is the first in a run of releases this season built around Santa coming down the chimney, and the name fits: this is a shoe for by the fire, not for the court. The next chapters are not known yet. More versions of this model are on the Air Jordan 3 page — and tell us below in Grail or Bail whether this chocolate-brown pair earns a spot. Start with the Fireside listing to see which shop has your size.
