Olympic releases have a short hype shelf life, and that’s exactly why I keep an eye on them. The Nike Air Max 1 “Olympic” (HM9604-400) landed on 16 July 2024, a week and a half before the Paris Games. The Games are long gone, Nike itself is sold out, and the price is now doing the thing a buyer wants to see: it’s sliding. Just not evenly across the sizes.
Podium colours without the costume
This is an Air Max 1 the way it should be. White mesh on the toe and side panel, light grey suede overlays along the laces and around the heel, and a mudguard in deep navy — the “Obsidian” from the official name. The Swoosh is metallic gold and it’s the only part asking for attention. Add a red Nike Air tongue label, a small red hit at the top eyelets and on the heel, a white midsole with the visible Air unit, and a navy outsole. Navy, white, gold and a pinch of red: podium colours that never tip into fancy dress. For a collection this is a keeper — no collab, no special box, just a colourway you’ll still wear in ten years without explaining it. One thing to watch on a second-hand pair: the white mesh toe grubs up faster than the rest, so check that toe and the edges of the navy suede first.
Your size decides whether this is a deal
On Solezilla.com there are twelve active listings from eleven shops right now, and every one is priced in euros — no UK or US listing today, so pounds-and-dollars buyers should add shipping and import on top. The headline floor is €98, but that’s a single edge size at one marketplace; treat it as a lucky one-off, not the going rate. The realistic entry sits around €131, the regular run of shops lands in the €170s, and the top listing asks €369. It came out at normal Air Max 1 money, somewhere around €150, so the lower end is genuinely under retail while the busy sizes still sit above it. That’s the usual Air Max 1 pattern two years out: the common sizes are the scarce ones, and the odd sizes are where the value hides. Pick your size before you celebrate any number, because the “from” and the real price are rarely the same shoe.
The Hypescore still reads 82, ATOMIC, so the interest hasn’t gone anywhere — which is why this one wobbles per size rather than collapsing in a sale. If you wear a very small or a very big size, this is your moment. If you need a popular middle size, a price alert beats paying resale today. Line the sellers up per size on the Olympic page, then see what the rest of the Nike Air Max 1 range is doing. With eleven sellers, reading every line pays.
