Nike Caitlin 1 “Racer Blue”: a debut signature worth grabbing on day one (IH7423-400)

Nike Caitlin 1 "Racer Blue / Multi-Colour" (IH7423-400)

I rarely buy a basketball shoe on release day. For a debut signature I make an exception, because it’s the one moment you can be sure you’re getting it at retail. The Nike Caitlin 1 is Caitlin Clark’s first signature shoe, the “Racer Blue” is one of the opening colours, and it drops tomorrow — 1 October 2026 — through Nike.com and Nike Basketball retailers, in unisex sizes. No raffle, wide release.

What’s on the shoe

Bright royal blue over the whole thing, with an upper that looks textured up close: small angular nubs running across the surface, almost knitted from a distance. Nike calls that construction Opticast — moulded polyurethane nubs meant to cut drag through movement. There’s a “CC” logo in light blue-green on the heel, a stylised 22 embroidered on the lace panel, a Swoosh that shifts into silver-blue metallic on the side, and a translucent outsole with a hint of pink in it. Underneath sits a full-length Cushlon midsole with an Air Zoom Turbo unit in the forefoot, and the outsole carries lines from her career — “Shoot More Threes,” “From Anywhere” and “It was never a long shot.” Those details I’m not inventing; Sneaker Bar Detroit and SneakerFiles both list them.

The buyer’s read

Two things I’m watching. One: it comes in unisex sizes, so demand isn’t limited to the women’s column, and the middle sizes will move faster than on a shoe that only lands in WMNS. Two: on a debut signature, the opening colours are almost always the ones people search for most later — not the fifth or sixth make-up that trails in months down the line.

What that adds up to: if you want it, day one is the calm moment. On Solezilla.com right now the shape of the offer already tells the story — Nike itself is listed at about €140 in euros, right on the US retail figure of $140, while a consignment shop is already showing the same pair up near €375. There are no UK or US listings yet, so pound and dollar buyers should watch for local retail once it lands rather than pay the early euro resale. Wait a few months and you’ll be shopping in the corner I normally like to look in — but at a price someone else sets.

The colourways that follow will land on the Caitlin 1 model page, and once the European shops have it in stock you’ll see them side by side on the Nike page. Grail or Bail? I know where I stand — I’m more curious where you do.
