New Balance 1906D “Protection Pack” White (M1906DE): all white without looking sterile

New Balance 1906D Protection Pack White M1906DE

An all-white sneaker is the easiest pair in your rotation and the hardest one at the same time. Easy, because it goes under almost anything. Hard, because there’s nothing to hide behind: no contrast panel, no colour pulling the eye away from a scuff. The New Balance 1906D “Protection Pack” in white, style code M1906DE, is exactly that kind of pair, and it handles the problem better than you’d expect.

One small red logo on the whole shoe

The upper is mesh with smooth overlays laid over it, all in the same white. The N on the side is tonal, so you see it by its edge and its shadow, not by its colour. The midsole is clearly warmer than the upper, an off-white that leans towards cream, and in the heel you see the pods of the 1906 build. The only real colour on the entire shoe is a small red N-ergy logo on the side of the midsole. You have to look for it.

That cream sole is the smart part. Pure white on pure white looks great in the shop and not so great two weeks later, because every scuff and every bit of street dust reads as dirt. Here the sole already starts warmer than the top, so the shoe drifts towards off-white instead of towards grubby. Less cleaning stress, and the reason this pair is easier to wear than a strict triple white.

Which trousers it likes

Straight jeans are the safe route: half a break, short sock, done. The 1906 shape is full without being clumsy, so it takes a slightly wider leg better than a slim court shoe does. Under baggy denim it holds its own where a flat low-top would disappear.

Olive or stone cargos are the best match. The white lifts the whole fit and keeps it out of the utility corner. Add a grey hoodie or a plain overshirt and there’s enough contrast without anything shouting.

Chinos or beige trousers push it towards monochrome, and this is where the cream midsole earns its place: it connects to the beige instead of hanging underneath as a bright white patch.

Where it goes wrong is all black with a black technical jacket. Then the sneaker hangs under the outfit like a loose white spot. If you do wear black, bring some white back up top. A white T-shirt under an open overshirt is enough.

From 144 euros, or from 88 if your size is lucky

On Solezilla.com we count thirteen listings in euros for this pair today. GOAT shows one at €88, which is so far below the rest that you check the size and condition before getting excited. The realistic floor is StockX at €144, followed by Sneaker Ask, Patta, Mentastore and Collect District between roughly €179 and €189. After that it climbs: KeepItSneaker, Geturbrick, Stadium Goods and Farfetch between €235 and €310, and one listing at Miinto for €497.

For the UK and US there’s one listing each, both from Stadium Goods: £143.65 in pounds and $190 in dollars. That’s thin, so it’s worth comparing those against the euro prices with shipping included.

The spread isn’t a pricing error. This pair came out on 2 August 2023, it’s almost entirely resale now, and resale prices per size. Some sizes are still plentiful, others are gone and cost double. The Hypescore sits at 87, ATOMIC, so the interest hasn’t faded, which is exactly why the sharp sizes go first.

So don’t look at the lowest price, look at the lowest price in your size. The M1906DE page lets you filter on your own size before you look at the number. On this pair that can easily save you a hundred euros. The other colourways of the model are on the New Balance 1906 page.
