Of all the Air Liquid Max versions released so far, this is the most eye-catching. Not because the upper is particularly busy, but because the entire Air unit is mint green. Translucent aurora green from heel to toe, including the frame around it. Above that sits a black upper with wavy blue and green lines rippling across the sides, finished with a chrome swoosh.
What stands out to me is that this version doesn’t use a grid print like the first colorways, but instead features thin, continuous lines. That makes the shoe look more understated than you might expect from the color. From a distance, it mainly looks like a black sneaker on a colorful sole; it’s only up close that you see how much detail there is in the linework.
How it feels on foot. This version has a drop-in midsole made of Cushlon, sitting on top of the Air system with individual pods. That’s a different setup from a traditional Air Max unit: you stand on foam, with the visible row of cushions underneath. On paper, that promises a smoother transition from heel to toe. Personally, I see it more as an everyday sneaker that makes a statement than as a running shoe.
Would I wear it? I think so, but deliberately. A green sole this intense calls for an otherwise understated outfit: black, gray, or dark denim. If you prefer something that draws less attention, the triple black is the better choice, while anyone who wants to go all out should check out the original neon green version.
Price and availability. The US retail price is expected to be around $210 to $220.
